Oman And Kuwait Ink Four MoUs In A Move To Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Oman and Kuwait have inked four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) covering a broad spectrum of cooperation. This event took place during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's state visit to Kuwait this Monday, marking a new chapter in the partnership between the two nations.

The MoUs span various sectors including direct investment, metrology activities, and diplomatic studies and training, alongside a strategic agreement between Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA). These agreements are a testament to the shared vision of both countries towards fostering mutual growth and cooperation.

One of the MoUs, signed by the foreign ministries of Oman and Kuwait, aims at enhancing collaboration in diplomatic studies and training. This memorandum is designed not only to develop modern training methods for specialists in foreign policy and international relations but also to facilitate the exchange of documents, studies, and experiences on topics of mutual interest.

Further emphasizing economic ties, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) of Oman signed two MoUs with its Kuwaiti counterparts. The first, with Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority, establishes a framework for cooperation in direct investments. The second agreement with Kuwait Public Authority for Industry focuses on standardization, quality control, and conformity assessment activities, aiming to improve the quality of non-food industrial products and services exchanged between the two nations.

Additionally, the MoU between OIA and KIA sets the stage for cooperation and coordination in joint investments, exploring future investment opportunities, and the establishment of a joint investment fund. This fund will focus on sectors such as energy, utilities, infrastructure, communications, transportation, and logistics.

The Omani delegation, led by Abdulsalam Mohammed al Murshidi, President of OIA, and Qais Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, alongside key figures such as Ibtisam Ahmed al Farooji, Undersecretary for Investment Promotion in MoCIIP, and Dr. Saleh Amer al Kharousi, Oman's Ambassador to Kuwait, played a pivotal role in signing these agreements.

This series of agreements not only marks a significant milestone in Oman-Kuwait relations but also lays a solid foundation for enhanced cooperation and mutual growth, aligning with both countries' broader strategic interests in the region.
