Oman Launches Groundbreaking Sirb Drone Management Platform
Oman is making major strides in aviation innovation with the launch of the Sirb Platform, its first electronic system dedicated to drone regulation. Unveiled by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in partnership with SIRB Company, this pioneering initiative streamlines drone registration, licensing, and airspace management, setting a new benchmark for drone operations in the Middle East.
The Sirb Platform offers a seamless process for drone operators—whether hobbyists or professionals—to register, complete basic training, and obtain licenses. Designed in collaboration with military and security authorities, the system also marks authorized flight zones, ensuring safe and structured airspace management across the Sultanate.

H.E. Eng. Naif bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the CAA, highlighted the transformative impact of this initiative:
"This is a major step for Oman's aviation sector. It's the first platform in the Middle East designed to manage drone air traffic and represents over four years of collaboration between government entities and an Omani team."
With the increasing use of drones in various sectors, including logistics, surveillance, and photography, Oman's decision to centralize drone operations reflects its vision of technological integration with aviation safety.
The Sirb Platform isn't just about regulation—it's about unlocking possibilities. According to Malik bin Mohammed Al Nabhani, co-founder and CEO of Sirb, the platform provides clarity on flight restrictions and permissions, making drone operation safer and more accessible.
Licensed by the CAA in 2024, the Sirb Platform is expected to:
- Enhance regulatory oversight of drone usage
- Facilitate technological advancements in drone operations
- Support businesses and research institutions relying on UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) technology
- Ensure compliance with safety standards to prevent unauthorized flights
This launch further cements Oman's commitment to aviation innovation, expanding digital governance, and embracing smart technology to transform its airspace into a well-regulated, future-ready ecosystem.
With Sirb in full motion, Oman is leading the way in the region's drone revolution—where the sky is not the limit, but the beginning of new possibilities.
