Oman: No Permission Required To Run Offers And Promotions

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) in Oman has announced that commercial establishments no longer require prior permission to run promotions and offers. This decision, made in collaboration with the Consumer Protection Authority, aims to stimulate commercial activities, enhance market competitiveness, and provide products at reasonable prices.

However, there are certain conditions attached to these discounts and promotional offers. They should not exceed three consecutive days per week and should not be offered more than three times a month. Additionally, the maximum discount allowed is 30%.

Although prior permission is no longer necessary for offering discounts, companies must inform the Consumer Protection Authority if they plan to provide such offers. This initiative by the commerce ministry is designed to create a business environment that benefits both businesses and consumers in Oman.
