Oman Airports Win Big At The ASQ Awards 2023

Muscat International Airport has earned the distinction of being the best airport for customer experience in the Middle East for airports handling 15-25 million passengers in 2023. On the other hand, Salalah Airport has been recognised as the top airport for customer experience among airports managing up to 2 million passengers. These acknowledgments come from the prestigious Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, a testament to the commitment of Oman's airports to delivering exceptional service quality.

The awards, a joint initiative by the Airports Council International and Amadeus, a travel technology leader, celebrate the outstanding achievements of Muscat and Salalah airports in providing a superior passenger experience. Salalah Airport, in particular, has received praise across several categories, being awarded for having the Most Dedicated Staff, being the Easiest Airport for Journey, the Most Enjoyable Airport, and the Cleanest Airport in the region. These accolades underscore Salalah Airport's remarkable focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

The ASQ Awards' evaluation process is notably rigorous, relying on direct feedback from travellers through surveys conducted on the day of travel. This methodology allows for a comprehensive assessment of the passenger experience, covering more than 30 performance indicators across various aspects of their airport journey.

Eng. Zakaria bin Yaqoub al Harrasi, Vice President of Salalah Airport, expressed his delight at the recognition. He highlighted the rapid ascent of Salalah Airport in service quality rankings since its recent opening, attributing this success to the concerted efforts of its partners and staff. "These accolades align with Oman Airports' broader objective to elevate service standards across all airports in the country," he noted, emphasizing the nation's growing appeal to international tourists and the increase in charter flights to the region.

The recognition of Muscat and Salalah airports by the ASQ Awards not only celebrates the exceptional service provided but also mirrors Oman's increasing significance in the global aviation sector. This achievement marks a significant step in the country's ambition to become a leading travel hub in the Middle East, further enhancing its reputation on the international stage.
