The UAE show jumping team will join a 14-member delegation for the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Rider Omar Al Marzooqi will carry the UAE flag during the opening ceremony on Friday, 26th July. The team recently completed a training camp in London.

Paris 2024: Equestrian Event Highlights

Jumping involves timed obstacle courses, while dressage features horse and rider performing artistic movements to music. Eventing is akin to an equestrian ‘triathlon,’ combining dressage, jumping, and cross-country elements.

Equestrian is unique as it allows men and women to compete equally. It is also one of the few Olympic sports involving animals, aside from the modern pentathlon's equestrian component.

The sport returns to its roots at Paris 2024, having first appeared at the Olympic Games Paris 1900. Equestrian royalty from around the globe will gather at the historic Château de Versailles for this prestigious event.

Thousands of athletes have competed in qualification events over the past two years. Sixty-five athletes have secured their spots for the eventing competition at Chateau de Versailles in Paris 2024.

Qualification Criteria

To qualify for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, athletes must be born on or before 31 December 2006, making them at least 18 years old during the Games. Horses must be born on or before 31 December 2016, ensuring they are no younger than eight years old during the competition.

Before showcasing their skills at Chateau de Versailles, athletes must meet these age requirements to participate in the Games.

The upcoming equestrian events promise to be a spectacular display of skill and partnership between horse and rider, set against the backdrop of one of France's most iconic landmarks.
