OIC Welcomes Historic UN Resolution Demanding End To Israeli Occupation And Settlements

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed approval for a significant resolution passed by the UN General Assembly. This resolution supports the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) advisory opinion on the illegality of Israel's occupation. It demands that Israel withdraw and dismantle its unlawful colonial settlements in Palestinian territories within 12 months.

The OIC views this resolution as a testament to the global consensus on the justice of the Palestinian cause. It underscores unwavering support for Palestinian rights, including self-determination and establishing an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The organization has called upon all countries to meet their responsibilities by taking individual and collective actions. These actions aim to ensure Israel adheres to its international obligations, including those outlined in international law and ICJ's advisory opinion.

The OIC has also emphasized the need for justice and international protection for Palestinians. It advocates for ending Israeli occupation and dismantling colonial settlements, reiterating that the Palestinian issue remains a priority on its agenda.

During the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, political efforts focused on Palestine were highlighted. The OIC supports calls for an international conference to implement relevant UN resolutions on Palestine and promote a two-state solution.
