OIC Welcomes Joint Statement From Arab Six-Party Meeting On Gaza Ceasefire And Palestinian Rights
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed approval for the joint statement from the Arab Six-Party Meeting of foreign ministers in Egypt on February 1. This statement advocates for a ceasefire at all stages to achieve lasting peace and stability, alongside the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
The OIC highlighted the necessity for the Palestinian government to fully assume its responsibilities in Gaza. This includes ensuring Palestinians can stay on their land, safely return home, and receive essential humanitarian aid and economic support. The organisation condemned military aggression, settlement policies, and any attempts to displace Palestinians or annex their lands.

Emphasising the importance of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the OIC rejected any efforts to undermine its existence or legal mandate. The agency is considered vital from a humanitarian perspective, providing essential relief services to Palestinian refugees.
The OIC urged global powers to uphold international resolutions aimed at ending Israeli occupation. It stressed empowering Palestinians to reclaim their rights, including self-determination and establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The organisation called on the international community to take responsibility in implementing these resolutions. It emphasised that achieving peace requires respecting Palestinian rights and ensuring a sovereign state within pre-1967 borders.
The OIC reiterated its rejection of policies that threaten regional stability and peace prospects. It condemned actions such as military aggression and settlement expansion, which undermine efforts towards a peaceful resolution.
By supporting the Arab Six-Party Meeting's statement, the OIC aims to foster conditions for lasting peace in the region. It remains committed to advocating for Palestinian rights and supporting initiatives that promote stability and security.
