OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha Condemns Israeli Plans To Seize Control Of Ibrahimi Mosque
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, addressed the OIC Executive Committee during an emergency meeting. The focus was on Israeli actions against Palestinians and holy sites, particularly the Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil (Hebron). This gathering took place at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters.
Taha highlighted that the meeting aimed to discuss a recent Israeli move to strip Palestinians of administrative control over the Ibrahimi Mosque. He described this as part of ongoing Israeli efforts to alter the Islamic identity of Palestinian cities. These actions are seen as a continuation of aggressions since Al-Khalil's occupation.

The Secretary-General condemned Israel's attempts to impose full control over the Ibrahimi Mosque, warning against plans to Judaize it and change its historical identity. He also denounced attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and bombings in Gaza, which he said violate human values and international laws.
In his speech, Taha stressed that these measures aim to Judaize Al-Quds and isolate it from its Palestinian context. He stated that such actions are illegitimate under international law and United Nations resolutions. The OIC firmly rejects these violations.
Taha addressed the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to ongoing Israeli actions. He described these as crimes involving genocide, starvation, and forced displacement. The escalation includes attacks on both Islamic and Christian places of worship.
He called for increased international efforts to pressure Israel into a comprehensive ceasefire. This includes opening crossings for humanitarian aid, ensuring Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, and enabling Palestinian governance there.
Call for International Action
The Secretary-General urged member states to multiply their efforts internationally. He emphasized achieving a permanent ceasefire and facilitating humanitarian aid entry into Gaza. Additionally, he stressed the importance of allowing Palestinian authorities to begin reconstruction efforts.
Taha concluded by stating that the ongoing humanitarian crisis represents a war crime and a violation of justice principles. It is a stain on humanity that demands urgent global attention and action.
