OIC Highlights Surge In Israeli Violations Against Palestinians In Recent Report

The Media Observatory of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has published its weekly report, highlighting a significant rise in Israeli crimes and violations against Palestinians from August 20-26, 2024. The report notes that Al-Aqsa Mosque faced frequent raids during this period, coinciding with condemnations of an extremist far-right Israeli minister's threat to build a Jewish synagogue within the mosque's courtyards.

During this week alone, Israeli occupation forces and settlers committed 1,936 crimes and violations. The violence resulted in the deaths of 306 Palestinians, including 296 in the Gaza Strip and ten in the West Bank. This brings the total number of Palestinian martyrs since to 41,081. Additionally, 922 Palestinians were injured in Gaza and the West Bank, while approximately 129 were detained in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Rise in Israeli Violations Reported by OIC

The international community has responded with outrage to these actions. Sixty media and human rights organizations, including Reporters Without Borders, have urged the European Union to suspend its cooperation agreement with Israel and impose sanctions due to the continued killing of journalists in Gaza.

The situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem remains dire. Israeli occupation forces demolished ten homes in various areas such as Wadi al-Joz and Anata town in Jerusalem, as well as other locations in Bethlehem, Tulkarm, Ramallah, and Nablus. The report also documents the destruction of infrastructure like roads, sports clubs, commercial properties, and the confiscation of Palestinian property including bulldozers, tractors, and agricultural equipment.

Aggressive Settlement Activities

Israeli settlers have been actively seizing land and erecting outposts across different locations in the West Bank. Over the past week, settlers raided Palestinian villages 39 times. They burned and bulldozed agricultural lands and attacked Palestinian vehicles.

The OIC's weekly report underscores the ongoing and escalating nature of Israeli violations in the occupied territories. It calls for greater international attention and action to address these issues.
