OIC Media Observatory Reports On Recent Violence: 37 Palestinians Murdered And 492 Injured Post-Ceasefire

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Media Observatory reported significant violence against Palestinians from January 21-27, 2025. During this period, 264 Palestinian bodies were recovered in Gaza. Additionally, 37 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, the West Bank, and occupied Al-Quds. The number of injured Palestinians exceeded 492 across various regions.

In the Gaza Strip, the destruction was extensive. Approximately 95% of homes in Beit Lahia were rendered uninhabitable. This occurred as displaced residents returned to the devastated northern area from central and southern parts of Gaza. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) continues to support Palestinian refugees despite challenges like the closure of the Indian Corner Clinic in Al-Quds due to Israeli restrictions.

In Jenin and its refugee camp, Israeli forces conducted aggressive operations. They bulldozed streets and commercial stalls near a central roundabout. Helicopters fired on Palestinians, while drones targeted an empty vehicle and groups within the camp. The occupation forces also surrounded a government hospital with earth mounds and blocked entrances to nearby towns.

Israeli authorities arrested 253 Palestinians in the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds during this time. They established 898 checkpoints, hindering movement across the region. These actions resemble closures from 2002-2005 aimed at restricting access between Palestinian cities and villages.

The occupation army demolished several structures including 12 homes and six shops in Al-Quds, Nablus, and Jenin. In Jenin camp, a house was set ablaze. An agricultural room and two water wells were destroyed in Nablus. Notices were issued for shop closures in Al-Funduq village ahead of planned demolitions.

Additionally, Israeli authorities decided to confiscate 15 dunums of land near Al-Zaim checkpoint in Al-Quds. In Salfit Governorate, they seized a truck and bulldozer; a private car was taken in Tulkarm. A plot measuring about 30 dunams was bulldozed in Jit village's northern mountain.

Settlement Activities

Last week saw two settlement activities where settlers cleared land for new outposts. Near Ain road in Qaryut village, settlers initiated pastoral projects including cow pens and olive planting over approximately 20 dunams using tractors and other equipment.

The number of settler attacks on Palestinian towns reached about 51 incidents during this period. Settlers stormed Jinsafut and Al-Funduq villages in Nablus, attacking homes and setting fire to vehicles along Qalqilya-Nablus road.

Impact on Palestinian Agriculture

Settlers caused significant damage to agriculture by cutting branches off around 50 olive trees in Nahalin town. In Kisan village near Bethlehem, dogs were released to attack Palestinians while sheep destroyed crops in Khalayel al-Loz area.

In Jericho and Salfit regions over 103 sheep were stolen by settlers who also let their livestock graze on Palestinian lands destroying crops further exacerbating tensions between communities.

The total number of crimes committed by Israelis during this week reached approximately 1,630 incidents across various Palestinian areas highlighting ongoing conflict dynamics within these territories.
