OIC Calls For Global Investigation Into Israeli Abuses Of Palestinian Prisoners
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has voiced serious concerns over the escalating violence and severe violations committed by Israeli forces against Palestinian prisoners. These abuses, documented by various legal bodies, include execution, torture, starvation, rape, isolation, and forced disappearance.
Particularly affected are detainees from the Gaza Strip, with eighteen Gazan prisoners having died in Israeli prisons since . Many other detainees have also been killed, though their identities remain undisclosed. The OIC has condemned these indiscriminate detention campaigns by Israeli authorities.

The number of Palestinian detainees has surged significantly due to these actions. Currently, there are over 9,700 Palestinian prisoners held by Israeli forces. This includes 80 female detainees, 52 journalists, and more than 250 children. Additionally, over 3,380 individuals are held in administrative detention without formal charges or trial.
The OIC has called for an immediate international investigation into the harsh conditions and ongoing Israeli violations against Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons. These actions are deemed war crimes and crimes against humanity. They violate international humanitarian law, the Human Rights Charter, the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, and other relevant international agreements.
Furthermore, nearly 600 detainees are serving life sentences under these harsh conditions. The OIC urged the global community and human rights organizations to pressure Israeli authorities to adhere to international conventions regarding the treatment of Palestinian prisoners.
Support for Palestinian Rights
The OIC reaffirmed its support for the rights of Palestinian prisoners and their resilience. It pledged to bring their plight to the attention of the global community in pursuit of freedom and justice.
The organization emphasized that these violations must be addressed urgently to ensure compliance with international standards and protect human rights.
