NYU Abu Dhabi's Arts Centre Celebrates A Decade Of Diverse Cultural Performances
The Arts Centre at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) has unveiled its 10th season, featuring 55 performances by over 30 local and international artists. This milestone season, themed "Looking Back and Looking Forward," includes both returning favourites and new acts, with two world premieres and eight UAE debuts.
Among the highlights are the world premiere of "Hamour Doesn’t Leave the Cubicle" by Reem Almenhali and Ahmed Almadloum. The UAE will also see debuts from Gaye Su Akyol, who will perform alongside TootArd, as well as Cimafunk and the futuristic Congolese/French collaboration KOKOKO!. Additionally, Abosahar and Aita Mon Amour will feature at the Tamaas Festival.

The first UAE performances of Cie. Hervé Koubi’s "Sol Invictus," Chrystèle Khodr’s "Augurs," and Cie. Omar Rajeh & Maqamat’s "Beytna" are also scheduled. Returning acts include Trisha Brown Dance Company, comedian Maysoon Zayid, and Yahael Onono Camara of Balimaya Project.
Bill Bragin, Executive Artistic Director of The Arts Centre, remarked on the significance of this anniversary season. "The Arts Center is a place for discovery and inspiration. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we reflect on a decade of memorable collaborations that have positioned us as an international leader while also playing a vital role in developing the UAE’s arts landscape."
Bragin continued to highlight the importance of their relationships with artists and audiences. "We’re thrilled to have built strong and lasting relationships with both artists and audiences through a commitment to fostering creativity and serving as a vibrant hub for intercultural dialogue." He added that these positive experiences are a testament to the quality of engagement by public audiences and the university community.
Future Commitments
Looking ahead, Bragin emphasised NYUAD's ongoing dedication to being a major cultural resource on Saadiyat Island and for the UAE as a whole. He stated that their focus remains on championing innovation, diversity, inclusion, and artistic excellence.
This season promises to be an exciting blend of new experiences and cherished returns, reflecting The Arts Centre's commitment to cultural enrichment in the region.
