NWC Initiates SAR 2 Billion Water And Sanitation Projects Across Riyadh Region

The National Water Company (NWC) has initiated 30 new water and sanitation projects in the Riyadh Region. These projects span a total of 1,955 kilometers and cost nearly SAR2 billion. This initiative is part of NWC's strategy to enhance water and environmental services infrastructure and expand service coverage for customers.

NWC has started 16 water projects in Riyadh city and various governorates. These include areas like Al-Taawun, Al-Janadiriyah, Leban, Al-Diriyah, Dirab, and parts of Al-Quwaiyah, Afif, Al-Dawadmi, among others. The projects involve over 1,192 kilometers of lines and networks. They also include the construction of 18 reservoirs with a capacity of nearly 85,000 cubic meters and pumping stations handling over 247,000 cubic meters daily. The total cost exceeds SAR1 billion.

NWC Launches Major Water Projects in Riyadh

In addition to water projects, NWC has launched 14 sewerage projects within the Riyadh Region. These cover districts such as Al-Munsiyah, Al-Mu'aizilah, Al-Hazm, Namar, and Al-Awali in Riyadh city. Separate sewerage lines are being implemented in other districts and parts of governorates like Al-Zulfi, Al-Ghat, Shaqra, among others. The sewerage network extends nearly 763 kilometers with lifting stations capable of handling 117,000 cubic meters per day at a cost exceeding SAR902 million.

This new project package follows previous commitments made earlier in May 2024 for 46 projects worth over SAR1.6 billion and in August 2024 for another set of 20 projects valued at about SAR1 billion. These efforts aim to strengthen the water distribution system while addressing environmental concerns.

The company emphasised that these initiatives are part of its broader strategy to improve operational efficiency in the water and environment sectors. "This confirms its continued implementation of strategic plans to increase operational efficiency in the water and environment sectors, adhering to the highest quality and performance standards to realize the goals of Saudi Vision 2030," stated the release.
