NWC Showcases Significant Achievements At COP16 In Riyadh With Over SAR 3.7 Billion Investment
The National Water Company (NWC) showcased its significant progress in projects and operations at the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. The company highlighted its ongoing improvements in water pumping and treatment across Saudi Arabia. NWC has executed 94 essential projects this year, investing over SAR3.7 billion.
Among these initiatives, 66 projects valued at SAR2 billion focused on enhancing water services. Meanwhile, 28 projects worth SAR1.7 billion were dedicated to improving sanitary sewage systems. These efforts have significantly boosted the capacity of wastewater treatment plants by approximately 50,000 m3 daily.

The company constructed 40 reservoirs with a combined storage capacity exceeding 132,000 m3. Additionally, water-pumping stations now have a total capacity surpassing 680,000 m3 per day. Wastewater lift stations with a total capacity exceeding 440,000 m3 per day were also built.
NWC's completed projects in 2024 expanded networks by laying down 2,434 km of lines. This includes 1,837 km for water lines and 597 km for sewage lines. The company reported success in extending water pumping hours in network-served districts, achieving an average of 20.50 hours daily across various areas.
The company is committed to enhancing customer service through strategic programs and monthly performance evaluations. This approach helps address challenges and meet annual objectives effectively.
NWC stated: "The additional capacities of wastewater treatment plants reached about 77,000 m3 per day." This statement underscores their dedication to expanding infrastructure capabilities within the Kingdom.
