Nurturing Cultural Identity And Leadership Among Arab Children At APC Session

The Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) is set to convene on July 26th, focusing on "The Cultural Identity of the Arab Child." This session will see participation from parliament members across various Arab nations. It forms part of APC's ongoing efforts for the second session of its fourth term at the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) in the UAE.

The event underscores APC's dedication to embedding and strengthening Arab cultural identity concepts in children's minds. By fostering pride in their cultural and value-based heritage, it aims to instil a sense of belonging. This initiative seeks to empower future generations to uphold their values and identity amidst rapid global changes.

Empowering Arab Children Through Cultural Identity

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, generously sponsors the session. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, also supports it. This highlights a collective Arab commitment to enabling children to engage in dialogue within an effective institutional framework.

Elias Al Maani from Oman will chair the session as APC President. This decision reinforces the principle of empowering children by encouraging them to take on leadership roles. It aims to enhance their skills and broaden their horizons, allowing them to discuss issues affecting their lives and aspirations.

Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of APC, highlighted that this session is crucial for young generations reconnecting with their rich Arab culture while remaining open to global influences. He stressed the importance of maintaining roots and authenticity during this process.

Al Barout emphasised that APC sessions provide a free and responsible platform for Arab children. Here, they can express their ideas confidently and participate actively in shaping their future with determination.

Sharjah: A Hub for Cultural Engagement

Al Barout also noted that hosting this session in Sharjah, recognised as the Arab Capital of Culture, underlines UAE's vision. The event reflects a commitment to supporting and empowering children both regionally and internationally.

This gathering aims to inspire pride in language, history, and culture among young Arabs. It seeks to build generations capable of defending their values against accelerating challenges worldwide.
