Noor Riyadh 2024 Preview Night Showcases World’s Largest Light Art Festival With Stunning Installations

The Noor Riyadh 2024 Preview Night offered an exclusive glimpse into the festival, featuring curated tours and a drone show at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center. This fourth edition of Noor Riyadh includes 60 installations by artists from 18 countries, turning Riyadh into an open-air gallery. The festival runs from 28 November to 14 December across three key locations: King Abdulaziz Historical Center, Wadi Hanifah, and the JAX District.

During the preview night, attendees including artists, curators, and dignitaries gathered to experience the world's largest light art festival under the theme "Light Years Apart." The event began with welcome speeches from Architect Khalid Al-Hazani, director of the Riyadh Art Program, and Nouf AlMoneef, director of the Noor Riyadh festival. Following this, festival curators Dr. Effat Abdullah Fadag and Dr. Alfredo Cramerotti led guided tours of 18 artworks around Murabba Palace.

Noor Riyadh 2024 Preview Night Highlights Art

Noor Riyadh 2024 features contributions from 18 Saudi artists alongside 43 international artists. These artists hail from countries such as Australia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. This diverse representation highlights the global nature of the festival.

The London-based artist collective United Visual Artists captivated audiences with their drone show titled "Aether." Using 1,500 drones in a seven-minute performance, they explored celestial harmony by bringing unseen elements into view. This innovative display transformed the night sky into a dynamic canvas.

Noor Riyadh integrates public art displays with workshops and talks to engage communities creatively. These events offer cultural enrichment through unique expressions of art. The festival's blend of activities underscores its role in transforming Riyadh into an open-air gallery.

Since its inception in 2019 under Riyadh Art's mission to enhance cultural landscapes in Saudi Arabia's capital city through art festivals like Noor Riyadh and Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium have been pivotal. Over this period more than 500 artworks by over 500 artists have been showcased attracting over six million visitors.

Noor Riyadh has achieved significant recognition by winning 14 Guinness World Records. This accomplishment solidifies its status as both the largest and most impactful light art festival globally. Such accolades highlight its influence on contemporary art scenes worldwide.
