Noor Dubai Foundation Transforms Lives With Free Cataract Surgery In Philippines

In a significant move towards enhancing global health and well-being, the Noor Dubai Foundation, in collaboration with the EYE hEAR Foundation and the Department of Health, has initiated a free Cataract Surgical Caravan in Borongan, Eastern Samar, Philippines. This initiative follows the successful implementation of a similar programme in Catarman, Northern Samar, in November of the previous year. The effort underscores the United Arab Emirates' dedication to positively impacting communities in the Philippines and strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

A total of 1,969 individuals reaped the benefits of this comprehensive programme, which included screening, diagnosis, and eye care services. Notably, the initiative saw the successful completion of 586 cataract surgeries and distributed 454 pairs of spectacles. Additionally, necessary medicines were provided to those in need, ensuring a holistic approach to eye care.

Transforming Lives: Free Cataract Surgery in Philippines

Mohamed Obaid Alqataam Alzaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Philippines, highlighted the UAE's commitment under its wise leadership. He stated, "Under the directives of the UAE's wise leadership, and with the support of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, hope for a better future has been given to a significant number of people." The ambassador also emphasized the UAE's ongoing efforts to foster strong international relations, particularly with the Republic of the Philippines in the medical sector.

The Embassy expressed its deep appreciation for the Noor Dubai Foundation's impactful and sustained charitable initiatives. The Foundation's dedication to preventing blindness and visual impairment globally is commendable. Launched in 2008 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the Noor Dubai Foundation has been at the forefront of charitable programmes aimed at enhancing eye health worldwide.

Furthermore, gratitude was extended to the government of the Philippines for its invaluable cooperation and support in ensuring the success of this comprehensive programme. The collaboration between these entities showcases a united front in addressing health challenges and improving lives across borders.
