NMDC Group Partners With Environment Agency–Abu Dhabi To Enhance Marine Ecosystem Protection
NMDC Group has entered a five-year strategic collaboration with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD). This agreement aims to create a framework focusing on 13 key areas related to marine environmental protection. The partnership will address pollution, climate change, and the conservation of marine life and natural resources.
Eng. Yasser Zaghloul, Group CEO of NMDC, remarked, "By strengthening our partnership with EAD, NMDC is set to deploy our marine assets in ways that will support the health of Abu Dhabi’s marine ecosystem. This project forms part of NMDC Group’s ongoing sustainability strategy, where we’re taking decisive steps across our operations to drive positive change in the built and natural environments."

The agreement includes using NMDC's marine equipment to improve EAD's water quality management system. Fourteen new buoys will be placed in Abu Dhabi's waters. These buoys will significantly boost EAD's real-time monitoring and data collection capabilities by transmitting data every 15 minutes.
This enhanced environmental monitoring programme will aid in developing strategies to optimise Abu Dhabi's marine environment. The initiative aims to establish high-resolution marine water quality data standards for proactive resource management.
This project builds on existing collaborations between NMDC Group and EAD. Both organisations have previously worked together on environmentally significant projects. The new agreement seeks to further strengthen this partnership by including future initiatives focused on protecting Abu Dhabi’s marine environment.
Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of EAD, stated, "By integrating NMDC Group's expertise with EAD's scientific capabilities and mandate, we are moving beyond traditional conservation. This collaboration is the backbone of high-resolution marine water quality data that enables Abu Dhabi to set new standards and ensure our natural resources are proactively managed and protected for generations to come."
The collaboration represents a significant step forward in addressing environmental challenges affecting Abu Dhabi's waters. By combining resources and expertise, both parties aim to safeguard the region's natural resources effectively.
