Ninth Steering Committee Meeting Of The GlobE Network Concludes With Key Anti-Corruption Discussions

The Ninth Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) has concluded under Saudi Arabia's leadership. Held in Vienna from February 11 to 12, the meeting was chaired by Dr. Nasser bin Ahmad AbaalKhail, Deputy for International Collaboration at Nazaha. Attendees included Steering Committee members and representatives from anti-corruption bodies worldwide.

Key discussions focused on creating a secure international platform for sharing information among anti-corruption authorities. Participants also worked on developing a framework agreement and guiding principles for handling cross-border corruption cases. Additionally, they reviewed the annual work plan for 2025 and prepared for the upcoming Plenary Meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan, scheduled for May 2025.

GlobE Network Meeting Concludes in Vienna

The meeting addressed criteria for network membership and the selection process for Steering Committee members. Establishing regional offices to broaden the network's reach and improve its effectiveness was also discussed. These efforts aim to enhance cooperation among member states and provide technical support for corruption investigations.

The GlobE Network is an international initiative under the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), initiated by Saudi Arabia. It acts as a global platform promoting information exchange and collaboration among anti-corruption authorities worldwide, contributing significantly to global anti-corruption efforts.

Efforts are ongoing to develop the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities further. The network aims to bolster cooperation among member states, offer technical support, facilitate information exchange for corruption investigations, and organize training programs to enhance institutional capacities globally.

Currently, the GlobE Network comprises 229 anti-corruption authorities from 124 countries, along with several international networks and organizations. This extensive participation underscores its role in combating corruption and upholding justice worldwide.

The meeting marked a significant milestone in fostering international collaboration against corruption. By establishing secure platforms and frameworks, it seeks to streamline processes across borders, ensuring effective action against corrupt practices globally.
