Aster Hospital Al Qusais Launches Urgent Care Clinic For Quick Access To Non-Life-Threatening Care

Aster Hospital, Al Qusais, has taken a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare accessibility by opening its new Urgent Care Clinic. This facility provides GP-led care for individuals facing urgent, yet not life-threatening, medical issues.

Situated conveniently on the ground floor near Reception A, the clinic is equipped with advanced rapid diagnostics and is manned by seasoned General Practitioners specializing in General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Gynecology. Operating daily from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, it offers patients the convenience of walking in without an appointment, thus filling a critical gap in healthcare needs during off-peak hours.

New Urgent Care Clinic at Aster Hospital

The establishment of this clinic is a testament to the UAE's commitment to improving patient care by providing timely healthcare solutions for non-emergency situations. This move is particularly aimed at preventing the overcrowding of emergency rooms by redirecting patients with conditions like minor injuries, flu symptoms, stomach issues, and other non-critical cases to a more suitable care setting.

Dr. Sherbaz Bichu, CEO of Aster Hospitals & Clinics in the UAE, Bahrain, and Oman, highlighted the clinic's role in the broader healthcare system. "The introduction of an urgent care clinic within the Aster hospital Qusais, is a strategic move to alleviate the pressure on the emergency room (ER) by redirecting non-emergent cases. This approach not only enhances patient care but also improves the overall efficiency of hospital services."

The Urgent Care Clinic specifically caters to patients with conditions such as fever, diarrhea, pregnancy discomforts, and minor injuries, offering them a reliable alternative to visiting the ER. By doing so, it ensures that emergency services are reserved for severe cases like chest pain, significant bleeding, or unconsciousness.

Positioned strategically within Aster Hospital, Al Qusais, which has gained global recognition by featuring in Newsweek's "World's Best Smart Hospitals 2025" list, this clinic is another feather in the cap for Aster DM Healthcare.

Dr. Ramanathan Venkiteswaran, Consultant Paediatrician & Group Medical Director at Aster Hospitals and Clinics UAE, also weighed in, stating, "We often see that families and patients have to wait for the needed care, which often aggravates the challenge. Our General Practitioners and supporting medical teams will ensure that patients receive timely, condition-appropriate treatment, bridging the gap between outpatient visits and emergency care. This clinic enhances the efficiency of our healthcare system by directing non-emergency cases to the right place."

The initiative mirrors a broader national effort to enhance healthcare access and efficiency. For instance, in the first quarter of 2025, the UAE National Guard Command reported that of the 22,903 emergency cases handled, over 9,372 cases were treated on-site by the National Ambulance service, highlighting the potential effectiveness of alternative care settings like the Urgent Care Clinic in managing these situations.

While the clinic is currently not offering telehealth services, plans are underway to incorporate virtual care options through platforms such as myAster, further expanding its accessibility. This is in line with Aster DM Healthcare's long-term vision of reducing ER congestion and enhancing community healthcare access. The success of this clinic will serve as a benchmark for future expansions of similar facilities across the UAE, reinforcing the organization's commitment to healthcare excellence.
