RGI Shipping Service Enhances Saudi-India Trade Via Jeddah Islamic Port
The Saudi Ports Authority "Mawani" has recently unveiled a strategic enhancement to Jeddah Islamic Port's connectivity with the introduction of the "RGI" service, operated by Unifeeder. This initiative is set to bolster trade links between Saudi Arabia and India, offering swift and reliable solutions for both exporters and suppliers. This development not only underscores the confidence investors have in the Kingdom's port capabilities but also reinforces the pivotal role of maritime transport and logistics services in the region.
Jeddah Islamic Port, with its impressive throughput capacity of 130 million tons, stands as the premier gateway for the Kingdom's exports and imports. It also holds the distinction of being the primary re-export hub in the Red Sea, equipped with 62 multi-purpose berths. The introduction of the RGI service promises to enhance this status further by connecting it with key ports in India, the UAE, and Egypt, including Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, and Sokhna. These connections are facilitated through regular weekly voyages, boasting a capacity of up to 2,824 standard containers.

In a significant move towards upgrading its infrastructure, Jeddah Islamic Port has recently completed development works at its North Container Terminal. This project, representing an investment of 6.6 billion Saudi Riyals, aims to augment the port's operational efficiency and capacity. Such enhancements are crucial for improving logistics services and are in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS). The NTLS seeks to elevate the Kingdom's position as a leading global logistics hub that effectively connects three continents.
This strategic expansion and development within Jeddah Islamic Port highlight Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing its maritime transport and logistics sectors. By fostering stronger trade ties with India and improving port infrastructure, the Kingdom is poised to achieve its ambitious goals within the global logistics landscape.
