Saudi Arabia Announces New Discoveries Of Arabian Oil And Natural Gas In Eastern Region
Saudi Aramco has made significant discoveries of oil and natural gas fields in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Region and the Empty Quarter. These findings include six oil fields, two oil reservoirs, two gas fields, and four gas reservoirs. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, announced these developments, highlighting their importance for Saudi Arabia's energy sector.
The "Jabu" oil field was identified in the Eastern Region. Arabian Extra Light Oil flowed from the "Jabu-1" well at 800 barrels per day (bpd). Another discovery, the "Sayahid" oil field, produced Arabian Extra Light Oil at a rate of 630 bpd from the "Sayahid-2" well. Additionally, the "Ayfan" oil field yielded 2,840 bpd of Arabian Extra Light Oil from the "Ayfan-2" well, along with 0.44 million standard cubic feet (MMscf) of associated gas daily.

The "Jubaila" oil reservoir was found in the "Berri" field. Arabian Light Oil flowed at 520 bpd from the "Berri-907" well, accompanied by 0.2 MMscf of gas per day. In the "Mazalij" field, the "Unayzah-A" reservoir was discovered. It produced Arabian Super Light Oil at a rate of 1,011 bpd from the "Mazalij-64" well, with 0.92 MMscf of associated gas daily.
Oil Discoveries in Empty Quarter
In the Empty Quarter, several new oil fields were discovered. The "Nuwayr" field yielded Arabian Medium Oil at 1,800 bpd from the "Nuwayr-1" well with 0.55 MMscf of associated gas daily. The "Damda" field produced Arabian Medium Oil at 200 bpd from the "Mishrif-C" reservoir and Arabian Extra Light Oil at 115 bpd from the "Mishrif-D" reservoir in the same well.
Natural Gas Discoveries
The minister announced new natural gas discoveries as well. The "Ghizlan" gas field in Eastern Region saw gas flow at a rate of 32 MMscf per day from the "Unayzah B/C" reservoir with 2,525 barrels of condensate. The "Araam" field also produced gas at a rate of 24 MMscf per day with 3,000 barrels of condensate.
Gas Reservoirs in Empty Quarter
In addition to these finds, unconventional gas was discovered in Eastern Region's "Mihwaz" field. Gas flowed at a rate of 3.5 MMscf per day from the "Qusaiba" reservoir with 485 barrels of condensates. In the Empty Quarter's "Marzouq" field, three reservoirs were identified: Arab-C (9.5 MMscf/day), Arab-D (10 MMscf/day), and Upper Jubaila (1.5 MMscf/day).
Prince Abdulaziz emphasised that these discoveries enhance Saudi Arabia's position as a leader in global energy markets and highlight its vast hydrocarbon resources. He noted that such developments will open new economic opportunities for Saudi Arabia while ensuring it meets both domestic and international energy needs sustainably for years to come.
These discoveries align with Vision 2030 goals by supporting economic growth and leveraging natural resources to bolster global energy security.
