NEOM IFSC Masters Attracts Global Elite Athletes In Sport Climbing Competition
The NEOM IFSC Masters, part of the NEOM Beach Games, recently featured 93 top sport climbers from 31 nations. Held at NEOM’s Mountain Village in Bajdah, the event highlighted the region's stunning rock formations. Manuel Cornu and Agathe Calliet emerged victorious in boulder climbing, while Amir Maimuratov and Rajiah Sallsabillah excelled in speed climbing.
NEOM’s commitment to sports is evident through its collaboration with the Saudi Hiking and Climbing Federation. This partnership invited 40 local amateur climbers to participate, offering them a chance to learn new techniques and connect with elite athletes. NEOM Sport’s Managing Director Jan Paterson stated: "NEOM’s dedication to making dynamic sports accessible in the Kingdom goes beyond competition."

The event attracted rising stars like Samuel Watson, the youngest world-ranked climber from the Paris 2024 Olympics. He competed alongside 18 other Olympians who had participated in the French capital’s Games. This highlights NEOM's appeal to emerging athletes and its role as a platform for global talent.
Community engagement was a key aspect of the event. The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) hosted workshops on the climbing wall, connecting local enthusiasts with international experts. This initiative demonstrated NEOM's commitment to fostering opportunities in sport climbing and engaging with the community.
IFSC Treasurer Pierre You expressed his satisfaction with the event, saying: "On behalf of the IFSC, I was very happy to welcome the athletes who participated in the second edition of the NEOM IFSC Masters." He emphasized that this event is crucial for promoting sport climbing in Saudi Arabia.
The ongoing NEOM Beach Soccer Cup is another highlight of the NEOM Beach Games. It began on November 13 and features four days of competition with 12 men’s and women’s teams playing 24 matches. This event further showcases NEOM's dedication to expanding sports offerings.
NEOM's vision includes inspiring and broadening sports activities by hosting global athletes. Such events strengthen its position as a hub for sporting excellence, driving innovation and enhancing Saudi Arabia's presence on the international stage.
