Neo Space Group Awarded Permit To Launch Earth Observation Platform By CST
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has announced that Neo Space Group has secured the permit to offer Earth-observation (EO) platform services. This initiative aims to foster an environment conducive to private sector involvement in EO services, thereby boosting the Kingdom’s GDP through the development of value-added space products.
CST explained that the permit allows for the creation and operation of an electronic platform. This platform will collect and process EO data from satellites, including images of natural terrain, environmental pollution, and weather conditions. Additionally, it will serve as a digital marketplace, linking EO data providers with service providers who can develop and process this data into valuable space programs and products.

The platform will also enable public and private sector beneficiaries to access processed EO data. This data can be used in various applications across sectors such as agriculture, environment, logistics, and urban planning. The goal is to transform raw satellite data into actionable insights that can drive improvements in these fields.
In April, CST issued a document titled "Request for Permit to Provide EO Platform Services," inviting interested parties to apply by July 7. After evaluating the submissions based on specified criteria, CST selected Neo Space Group as the qualified applicant. This selection process ensures that the chosen provider meets all necessary standards for delivering high-quality EO services.
The EO platform initiative is part of CST’s broader efforts to promote space activities and attract investments in Saudi Arabia's space sector. By enhancing the Kingdom's global standing in this field, CST aims to create new opportunities for economic growth and technological advancement.
This initiative underscores CST's commitment to enabling space activities within Saudi Arabia. By encouraging private sector investment in EO services, CST hopes to stimulate innovation and economic development in the space industry.
Neo Space Group's new role involves not only providing essential EO data but also facilitating its transformation into useful applications. This dual function is expected to significantly benefit various sectors by offering precise and timely information derived from satellite observations.
Overall, this development marks a significant step forward in Saudi Arabia's efforts to harness space technology for national growth. The establishment of an EO platform aligns with global trends towards increased utilisation of satellite data for diverse applications.
The successful implementation of this project could pave the way for further advancements in Saudi Arabia’s space capabilities. It highlights the potential for innovative solutions that leverage satellite technology to address real-world challenges across multiple sectors.
