Abu Dhabi Corniche is set to host the fifth round of the UAE Sailing Hero Championship this weekend. Organised by Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and its Academy, the event will see nearly 100 sailors from various sailing schools and marine clubs across the UAE participating. The championship is under the supervision of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation.
The competition will feature races in the Optimist class, which is designed for young sailors. This category serves as a crucial platform for discovering new talent and honing skills. Additionally, the event will include ILCA categories (ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7), welcoming sailors of all ages and skill levels, from juniors to adults.

Races are scheduled to begin on Saturday, with maritime conditions promising an exciting start. The final day of competition will be Sunday, culminating in the crowning of champions across all categories. This inclusive championship aims to bring together juniors, youth, and adults in a single event.
A special race dedicated to athletes of determination will take place on Sunday. This initiative is organised by the club in collaboration with Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO). It highlights sport's role as a unifying force that offers equal opportunities for competition and creativity.
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, President of Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, highlighted the championship's significance in nurturing future champions. He stated: "We are proud to achieve a record number of participants this year. The participation of nearly 100 sailors across different categories reflects the importance of the championship and its role in developing the skills of our sailors."
Al Suwaidi also expressed pride in hosting a special race for People of Determination in cooperation with ZHO. He added: "We are also proud to host a special race for People of Determination in cooperation with ZHO, which embodies the values of inclusivity and gives everyone the chance to shine on the water."
This weekend's event not only promises thrilling competition but also underscores a commitment to inclusivity and talent development within UAE's sailing community.
