NCVC Showcases Key Projects At IUCN West Asia Conservation Forum

The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) showcased its initiatives at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Regional Conservation Forum for West Asia. This event, hosted by Saudi Arabia's National Center for Wildlife, took place in Riyadh from Monday to Wednesday.

Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadli, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture and Chairman of the NCVC Board, attended the forum alongside IUCN President Razan Al Mubarak. The 10th IUCN West Asia forum gathered over 200 specialists and experts from the IUCN Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA) and various stakeholders in Saudi Arabia.

NCVC at IUCN West Asia Forum

The NCVC is instrumental in developing and protecting vegetation cover. Their efforts include planting green belts to stabilize sand dunes. These initiatives are part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to preserve its natural heritage for future generations.

The IUCN regional forum, held every four years, is a vital platform for fostering communication among IUCN members in West Asia. It allows participants to exchange ideas, address environmental challenges, and develop effective conservation strategies.

This forum also serves as a precursor to the IUCN World Conservation Congress scheduled for 2025. It encourages regional collaboration to protect biodiversity.

Empowering Future Generations

Saudi Arabia's national efforts aim to empower future generations in land management and drought mitigation decision-making. The NCVC's role is crucial in these efforts, ensuring sustainable development and environmental protection.

The event highlighted the importance of regional participation and collaboration in conservation efforts. By bringing together experts and stakeholders, it aimed to develop strategies that address common environmental challenges effectively.

Overall, the NCVC's participation underscored Saudi Arabia's commitment to environmental conservation. Their initiatives are aligned with national goals to preserve natural resources and promote sustainable development.
