NCVC And Saudi-Korean Society Collaborate On Advanced Greywater Treatment Technologies For National Parks

Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Abdulkader, the Chief Executive of the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC), recently engaged in discussions with Moon Young-hak, Chairman of the Saudi-Korean Society for Economic and Trade Promotion. The meeting took place at NCVC's headquarters in Riyadh, focusing on potential collaborations with Korean firms to enhance greywater treatment technologies for national parks.

The meeting highlighted the importance of adopting Korean expertise in developing compact and mobile wastewater treatment systems. With over 400 national parks in Saudi Arabia, NCVC has strategic plans to optimise water usage as visitor numbers are expected to increase. Implementing these technologies will facilitate the reuse of treated water for afforestation projects and artificial lakes.

The Korean model utilises advanced IT-based control systems to enhance the quality and efficiency of treated water production. This approach allows existing infrastructure to double its treatment capacity at just 30% of the cost of new facilities. The implementation can be completed within eight months, extending plant lifespans by 30 years while ensuring a cleaner environment.

NCVC is dedicated to promoting sustainable environmental initiatives across Saudi Arabia. These efforts include restoring degraded lands, enhancing biodiversity, managing rangelands and national parks, preventing illegal logging, and preserving natural resources. By advancing these initiatives, NCVC plays a crucial role in Saudi Arabia’s environmental sustainability efforts.

NCVC's commitment extends to driving sustainable environmental initiatives that promote a flourishing vegetation cover throughout the Kingdom. This commitment aligns with enhancing public health standards and improving quality of life for residents by ensuring cleaner environments.

The meeting underscored NCVC's strategic development plans aimed at optimising water use in national parks. As visitor numbers are projected to rise, implementing greywater separation and treatment technologies becomes essential for sustainable park management.

By leveraging Korean expertise in wastewater treatment systems, NCVC aims to enhance its capabilities in managing water resources efficiently. This collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to Saudi Arabia’s environmental goals by promoting sustainable practices and improving public health standards.
