NCVC Collaborates With Thailand’s BJC On Agricultural Technologies And Environmental Sustainability Investments
The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) recently engaged in a strategic meeting with Thailand's Berli Jucker Public Company Limited (BJC). This meeting aimed to enhance international collaborations and explore investment opportunities in environmental sustainability. The session, attended by NCVC Deputy CEO for Greening Affairs Eng. Ali Al-Wad’ai, was held in partnership with the Ministry of Investment.
During the discussions, emphasis was placed on investment prospects in modern agricultural technologies. The dialogue also focused on localizing knowledge and adopting global best practices in projects led by NCVC. These efforts align with the Saudi Green Initiative, particularly the ambitious campaign to plant 10 billion trees.

The meeting explored BJC's potential investments in sites managed by NCVC. The viability of these sites for environmental investments was assessed, aiming to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, the Saudi experience in mangrove honey production was highlighted as a key area of interest.
Mechanisms for exporting mangrove saplings to Thailand were discussed, contingent upon suitable environmental conditions. This exchange could bolster both countries' environmental initiatives and foster mutual benefits.
The center presented several major national geoparks, underscoring their geological and cultural significance. A vision was shared for transforming these areas into leading eco-tourism destinations and nature-based resorts. A conceptual investment framework was introduced to preserve these sites' natural integrity while promoting sustainable development.
"NCVC is responsible for developing, protecting, monitoring, and rehabilitating vegetation cover sites across the Kingdom," stated the release. "Its mandate includes detecting violations, combating illegal logging, and overseeing rangelands, forests, and national parks to ensure their sustainable use, all in alignment with the Saudi Green Initiative."
The meeting also reviewed progress made in afforestation efforts under the Saudi Green Initiative. This initiative aims to significantly increase vegetation cover across Saudi Arabia through various projects.
