Nazaha's International Anti-Corruption Day Forum Highlights Whistleblower Protection And Integrity Efforts

The 13th annual International Anti-Corruption Day Forum, hosted by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), concluded its virtual sessions. The event focused on "Impact of Protecting Whistleblowers on Enhancing Efforts of Combating Financial and Administrative Corruption." It brought together international experts and government representatives to discuss strategies against corruption.

Dr. Bandar AbalKhail, Nazaha's Vice President for the Protection of Integrity, opened the forum by thanking participants. He emphasised Saudi Arabia's dedication to fighting corruption, guided by the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. These directives are part of Vision 2030, which prioritises transparency and integrity in all sectors.

The forum highlighted the importance of protecting whistleblowers as a key strategy in combating corruption. Dr. AbalKhail stated that this focus aligns with Saudi Arabia's commitment to the United Nations Convention against Corruption. Safeguarding those who report misconduct is crucial for maintaining integrity and accountability.

"This responsibility places on us at Nazaha the duty to achieve these aspirations by protecting integrity, promoting transparency, and combating corruption," said Dr. AbalKhail. He noted that Nazaha's mission is strengthened by robust support from Saudi leadership, enabling effective fulfilment of its mandate.

The forum also celebrated International Anti-Corruption Day 2024 under the theme "Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow's Integrity." This theme underscores the role of young people in fostering a culture of honesty and accountability worldwide.

Participants discussed various anti-corruption initiatives, sharing insights and strategies to reinforce global efforts in this area. The event served as a platform for advancing these initiatives while promoting principles of integrity across different regions.
