MoHESR Engages Over 350 Representatives From Universities In National Practical Training Platform Workshop

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) recently organised an online workshop to introduce higher education institutions (HEIs) to the new National Practical Training Platform. This initiative, developed with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness programme, Nafis, aims to enhance students' readiness for the workforce.

The National Practical Training Platform is a strategic national initiative designed to improve students' preparedness for employment by standardising work experience management across HEIs and economic sectors. It offers a comprehensive digital system linking HEIs with training providers, covering aspects like provider accreditation, student placement, progress monitoring, performance evaluation, and measurement of institutional training outcomes.

MoHESR Workshop on Practical Training Platform

During the workshop, over 350 academic and administrative staff from 46 HEIs participated. They were introduced to user manuals, key features, and best practices for using the platform. The session also covered how to access available work experience opportunities. Participants learned about the registration process, managing training contracts, selecting training providers, and using data analytics to enhance educational outcomes.

The weekly workshops aim to familiarise HEIs with the platform's benefits and usage. All relevant institutions are encouraged to join and begin utilising the platform. These sessions are part of MoHESR's efforts to increase awareness and understanding of the platform. The workshops support developing high-quality work experience programmes aligned with UAE's focus on a knowledge-based economy prioritising innovation and future skills.

A Q&A segment addressed technical and operational aspects of the platform. It linked HEIs with training providers, outlined criteria for selecting training opportunities, and shared best practices for managing work experience under the new governance system. This interaction helped clarify any doubts participants had regarding platform operations.

Launched under Nafis, this platform allows university students to access quality work experience opportunities while enabling public and private institutions to showcase their programmes. By connecting students with high-level training across vital sectors, it strengthens theory-practice integration, supports workforce readiness, and contributes to UAE's economic growth goals.

The workshop series is part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about this initiative. It aims to strengthen understanding among HEIs about how they can leverage this tool effectively. By doing so, it helps align educational outcomes with labour market needs in line with national priorities.

This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing student employability through practical training experiences that bridge academic learning with real-world application. As more institutions engage with this platform, it is expected that student readiness for entering various industries will significantly improve across the nation.
