National Human Rights Institution Participates In Global Campaign To End Violence Against Women And Girls

The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) is joining a global campaign to end violence against women and girls. This aligns with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed annually on 25th November. The NHRI will illuminate its headquarters in orange tonight, supporting the "Orange the World" theme and #NoExcuse call to action.

This initiative highlights NHRI's dedication to eradicating violence against women and girls worldwide. It aims to raise awareness about eliminating all forms of physical, psychological, digital, and economic violence. The campaign runs for 16 days, concluding on 10th December, which is Human Rights Day 2024.

The NHRI praised the UAE's leadership for empowering women and implementing strong laws to protect their rights. The institution noted that ending violence against women is essential for societal peace, equality, and justice. These efforts reflect a belief in women's crucial role in sustainable development and community cohesion.

The campaign aligns with the UAE's ongoing work to improve legislative and social frameworks. This ensures women are protected from violence and can actively contribute to society. The NHRI's involvement reaffirms the UAE's commitment to regional initiatives like the Arab Declaration on Combatting all Forms of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG), launched in Abu Dhabi in December 2022.
