On the international stage, NEP experts have demonstrated the UAE's leadership at COP27 and COP28. They contributed significantly by launching seven initiatives, authoring two white papers, and hosting 15 key sessions at COP28. Recently, NEP fellows served as UAE negotiators at COP29 in Baku, highlighting their influence in global climate discussions.
Ahmed Al Shamsi, NEP Director, commented on the programme's long-term impact: "With a commitment to nurturing expertise and fostering innovation, NEP continues to drive impactful change, aligning with the UAE's ambitions for the next 50 years. Additionally, Nour Al Mehairi developed a platform connecting eco-conscious consumers with local sustainable farms in the UAE.
Further solidifying their global impact, NEP experts engaged in critical policy dialogues at G7 and G20 summits. These interactions positioned the UAE as a significant player in shaping global sustainability and economic agendas. Moreover, NEP issued 12 reports examining AI's impact across vital sectors such as education, culture and diplomacy, food, and agriculture.
Future Prospects
As NEP expands with its fourth cohort, Alumni from previous editions will collaborate with new participants of NEP 4.0. They aim to advance key initiatives in space exploration, education technology and AI applications, healthcare innovations—all aligned with UAE's national priorities.
