Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Establishes National Committee For Documenting UAE Union Narrative

A resolution has been issued by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. This resolution establishes the 'National Committee for the UAE Union Narrative'. The committee is tasked with documenting the official historical narrative of the United Arab Emirates' founding.

The committee's primary responsibility is to ensure accurate documentation of events leading up to and during the formation of the UAE. This includes drafting an official Union Narrative document and aligning national, media, and educational content with its approved principles. The late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's pivotal role in establishing the nation is a central theme.

Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Advisor to the UAE President, will chair this committee. Members include representatives from various entities such as the Presidential Protocol and Strategic Narrative Authority, National Media Office, Education Council, Founder's Office, National Library and Archives, Executive Office of Abu Dhabi, and executive councils of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Qaiwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.

The committee's duties involve preparing and approving the official Union Narrative document. It ensures historical events related to the UAE's founding are accurately sequenced using approved terminology. The aim is to unify national narratives across media, educational content, and cultural materials with verified information from this document.

To maintain a unified narrative regarding the Union or its symbols across all published or broadcast content, coordination with government bodies and national institutions is essential. The committee will provide guidance to government entities to ensure alignment with the approved narrative. Periodic reviews will update the Union Narrative based on credible historical research while preserving its core fundamentals.

The committee also approves national campaigns related to the Union before their launch. These campaigns must align with the Union Narrative in coordination with relevant authorities. Validation of national content concerning Union symbols across media platforms and educational curricula is part of their mandate.

Additional Tasks and Coordination

Additional tasks related to the Union Narrative may be assigned by the Chairman of the Presidential Court. In fulfilling its mandate, coordination with federal and local government entities as well as national institutions is crucial for narrative alignment regarding Union symbols. Entities must submit any related content for approval before publication or implementation.

The committee can form working groups for specific tasks and seek support from experts without granting them voting rights in decisions or recommendations. Any provisions conflicting with this resolution are annulled.
