Abu Dhabi's Academy Welcomes Diverse Cohort For Childhood Development Diploma

The National Academy for Childhood Development, under the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, has welcomed its second batch into the accredited Professional Diploma in Childhood Development programme. This initiative aims to nurture professionals who can advance childhood development.

Now in its second year, the Professional Diploma programme received 7,800 applications. After a rigorous selection process, only 1.73% were admitted. This is a slight decrease from last year's 2.38% acceptance rate out of 4,200 applicants.

New Cohort at Childhood Development Academy

The new cohort is diverse in both nationality and academic qualifications. It includes individuals with doctorate, master’s, bachelor’s degrees, and high school diplomas from 11 different nationalities. A significant number of Emiratis are also part of this group.

Orientation week will take place from 19th to 23rd August in Abu Dhabi. During this time, students will receive essential information and resources. They will also tour the academy's facilities and get an overview of the programme and support services available to them.

The new intake will follow the path of the first cohort, who completed a 12-month initial phase and are now entering a six-month hands-on experience period starting this September. Training locations include the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), the Family Care Authority (FCA), and public nurseries under the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).

Programme Goals and Structure

The 18-month accredited Professional Diploma offers specialised education in childcare and development tailored to community needs. It emphasises national identity and the Arabic language while equipping caregivers with advanced skills based on global best practices.

Dr. Hessa Ali AlKaabi, Chief of the Academy Team, expressed her excitement about the overwhelming response to join the academy. "This underscores our successful efforts in fostering community engagement and advancing childhood development within just one year of the academy’s launch," she said.

She added that they are committed to providing students with necessary resources and support to excel in their roles. "We are committed to equipping them with the necessary resources and support to excel and make a significant impact on the future of childhood development in the UAE," she stated.

This comprehensive programme prepares caregivers to address current gaps while tackling future challenges and opportunities in childhood development.

The National Academy for Childhood Development continues to play a crucial role in shaping qualified professionals dedicated to enhancing early childhood education in the UAE.
