Nakheel And DEWA Join Forces For AED 270 Million Substations On Palm Jebel Ali

Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has joined forces with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to develop two new substations on Palm Jebel Ali. This project is valued at AED270 million. DEWA will manage the tendering, awarding, and construction of these substations. They are expected to be completed alongside the luxury villas.

The substations will have a capacity of 400 megavolt amperes (MVA) and will supply power to a significant portion of Palm Jebel Ali. This includes several fronds and the spine of the development. The announcement follows earlier contracts this year for villa construction, infrastructure, roads, and marine works on Palm Jebel Ali.

Nakheel and DEWA Develop Substations in Dubai

Nasser Al Awadhi, Chief Land Estates Officer at Dubai Holding, expressed confidence in DEWA's expertise. "We are confident that the expertise and skills of DEWA, our strategic partner, in the sector will enable us to lay a strong foundation as the prestigious Palm Jebel Ali takes shape," he said. This collaboration aims to establish a robust foundation for Palm Jebel Ali's growth.

Hussain Lootah from DEWA highlighted their commitment to enhancing Dubai's infrastructure. "All organisations in Dubai integrate their efforts to make Dubai the world's best city for living, working, and visiting," he stated. DEWA aims to maintain high standards in electricity and water services to support Dubai's continuous growth.

Palm Jebel Ali is one of Nakheel's most ambitious projects. It aims to set a global standard in waterfront living. Once finished, it will play a crucial role in Dubai's future expansion over the coming decades. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveiled this project as part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

The development spans seven islands covering 13.4 kilometres with 16 fronds and over 90 kilometres of beachfront. It marks a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area and is set to become a major residential and leisure destination.

This partnership with DEWA signifies another step forward in transforming Palm Jebel Ali into a key hub for living and leisure activities in Dubai.
