The second edition of the Human Fraternity Majlis was inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan. Organised by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, it involved collaboration with several organisations. Attendees included José Ramos-Horta, President of East Timor, Afra Al Sabri from the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, and other global leaders.

The event celebrated six years since the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity. It gathered leaders from over 20 countries to discuss solutions to global challenges related to human fraternity. Speakers included notable figures like Charles Michel and Patricia Scotland.

Sheikh Nahyan emphasised the importance of tolerance during his opening remarks at the Abrahamic Family House. He expressed hope that this symbol would inspire positive change worldwide. He praised Pope Francis and Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb for their messages promoting peace and unity.

He acknowledged challenges such as health issues, economic development, and conflicts that hinder cooperation globally. Despite these obstacles, he urged attendees to focus on commonalities rather than differences, highlighting cultural exchange as a beacon of hope for peace.

José Ramos-Horta stressed that human fraternity is a shared mission requiring solidarity across generations and nations. He called for empathy and respectful communication among all people. Meanwhile, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam noted that the Majlis aims to develop strategies based on the Document on Human Fraternity.

Commitment to Unity and Peace

Patricia Scotland emphasised action in promoting human fraternity, stating that deeds are crucial for achieving peace. Verónica del Socorro Alcocer García highlighted unity over division, advocating for dialogue as a means to resolve conflicts.

Charles Michel underscored cultural diplomacy's importance in making informed decisions. The role of youth as change agents was also spotlighted during discussions at the Majlis.

Thirteen-year-old Ghaya al-Ahbabi addressed attendees as UNICEF's youngest youth advocate for COP28. She urged unity among young people worldwide despite differences, reinforcing their role as future leaders in promoting human fraternity.

The event underscored collaboration across generations as vital for building a unified world. Discussions focused on diplomacy's role in bridging divides and empowering youth as future leaders committed to human fraternity principles.

The UAE remains dedicated to upholding human fraternity values through initiatives like the Document on Human Fraternity and Zayed Award for Human Fraternity. These efforts reflect its ongoing commitment to peace and coexistence globally.
