Muslim World League Backs Madrid's Push For Two-State Solution To Ensure Peace

The Muslim World League (MWL) has expressed approval for the statement released by the Joint Ministerial Contact Group in Madrid. This statement highlighted the group's dedication to implementing a two-state solution as the sole path to achieving peace and security.

The meeting included representatives from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Türkiye, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, Spain, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. They collectively condemned all forms of violence and terrorism while advocating for a two-state solution grounded in international law. The group emphasized the necessity of fulfilling both Palestinian rights and Israel's security needs.

MWL Supports Two-State Solution

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, MWL Secretary General and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, praised the group's steadfast efforts to ease Palestinian hardships and secure their legitimate rights. He stressed empowering the Palestinian government to manage responsibilities in Gaza Strip and West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Al-Issa urged the international community to support the two-state solution actively. He called for broad recognition of the State of Palestine and its full United Nations membership. Additionally, he emphasized the need for immediate and unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery to Palestinians by opening all crossings.

He also highlighted supporting UNRWA and other UN agencies' work as crucial. Al-Issa called on all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law obligations. He urged implementing International Court of Justice orders and halting dangerous escalations in the West Bank.

Condemnation of Illegal Measures

Al-Issa demanded an end to military attacks on Palestinians and illegal measures undermining peace prospects. These include settlement activities, land confiscation, and Palestinian displacement. He stressed that these actions must cease immediately.

He also acknowledged Saudi Arabia's significant efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause. He expressed gratitude towards Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their leadership.

The MWL's endorsement underscores a collective commitment to peace through a two-state solution while addressing humanitarian needs and condemning violence.
