MWL Hosts Conference To Foster Dialogue Among Islamic Schools Of Thought And Sects In Makkah
The Muslim World League (MWL) is set to host the second Global Conference for Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects. This event, under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, will take place on the 6th and 7th of Ramadan in Makkah. The conference aims to foster unity among Islamic traditions through dialogue and cooperation.
Participants will include prominent muftis, scholars, intellectuals, and representatives from various Islamic councils and institutions. The theme "towards an effective Islamic convergence" underscores the conference's goal to promote fraternity and cohesion among different sects while respecting doctrinal diversity.

The conference seeks to address historical sectarian disputes that have caused division within the Islamic community. By encouraging constructive dialogue, it aims to transform principles into practical initiatives that strengthen unity. This year's event builds on the foundation laid by the inaugural conference's charter.
A significant aspect of this gathering is the launch of an encyclopedia on Islamic intellectual convergence. Developed by Saudi Arabia's intellectual protection center (Feker), this comprehensive guide involves contributions from 60 esteemed scholars and thinkers. It aims to outline common Islamic principles for broader understanding.
Alongside the encyclopedia, a strategic plan for implementing the "Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects" Charter will be introduced. This plan includes several key initiatives designed to advance the charter's objectives, focusing on enhancing intra-Islamic dialogue and cooperation.
The conference represents a pivotal moment in turning theoretical discussions into actionable programs. By coordinating efforts and resources, it strives to overcome past conflicts and promote a unified Islamic front through impactful initiatives.
This year's conference is seen as a critical step in advancing these goals, with discussions centered around pressing issues affecting intra-Islamic relations. The event highlights the importance of collaboration among diverse Islamic traditions to achieve lasting peace and unity.
