Muslim World League Celebrates Achievements Of Quran Reciters In Tanzania

The Muslim World League (MWL) recently honoured Quran reciters and memorizers through historic initiatives in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The event was attended by Tanzanian President Dr. Samia Hassan and MWL Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa. Over 60,000 people from across Africa participated in the event, which coincided with the "Tanzania Girls International Quran Competition."

The competition saw female Quran memorizers from around the world gather to compete. Those who reached the final stages engaged in oral recitation, a requirement set by the MWL’s International Council for Holy Qur'an Perfect Recitation Sheikhs. This step is essential for obtaining a Quranic license with a continuous chain of transmission linked to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

The MWL also paid tribute to notable Quran reciters from the Islamic world who have passed away. This recognition aims to honour their contributions and inspire future generations to master the Holy Quran. Representatives, including grandchildren and children of the honoured reciters, were present to receive accolades.

MWL Honors Quran Talent in Tanzania

High-ranking officials such as the Mufti of Tanzania and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir, also attended the event. Their presence underscored the significance of this gathering in promoting Quranic knowledge and tradition.

The MWL is one of the pioneering organisations that stress the importance of maintaining a continuous chain of transmission for Quranic licenses. This practice underscores the significance of preserving this sacred tradition within the Islamic community.

The initiatives launched by MWL serve not only to celebrate current achievements but also to commemorate past contributions. By doing so, they aim to reinforce the importance of mastering and preserving the Holy Quran for future generations.

Participants in these initiatives were drawn from various parts of Africa, highlighting the widespread interest and dedication towards Quranic studies across the continent.

The event's success reflects MWL's commitment to promoting Quranic education and recognising those who have dedicated their lives to mastering its teachings.

This gathering in Tanzania marks a significant milestone in celebrating and promoting Quranic knowledge among Muslims worldwide.
