Muslim World League Supports Saudi Measures To Preserve Sovereignty And Regional Stability

The Muslim World League has stated clear backing for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s supplementary statement on Yemen, describing the Kingdom’s steps as necessary to protect national security and regional stability. The league also aligned itself with the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen over concerns about recent military shipments.

In its message, the league confirmed full support for Saudi Arabia’s position on escalatory actions attributed to the Southern Transitional Council in the Hadramout and Al-Mahara governorates. It stressed that the Kingdom’s decisions seek to contain tension, prevent further deterioration, and maintain stability for Yemen and neighbouring states.

The statement, issued by the General Secretariat, highlighted that these positions reflect the Muslim World League’s ongoing solidarity with Saudi Arabia. It underlined that the league stands with all measures the Kingdom adopts to safeguard its national security, which it linked directly to wider security across the region and the Islamic world.

The league also endorsed the separate statement from the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen about the unauthorized transfer of military cargo. According to the coalition’s account, ships carried weapons and heavy vehicles from the Port of Fujairah to the Port of Mukalla without the required permits from the Joint Forces Command.

The Muslim World League explained that such movements, carried out without coalition approval, raise serious security concerns and risk fuelling further instability. It noted that adherence to agreed procedures, including official permits, is viewed as essential for controlling armed activity and limiting the spread of weapons in the Yemeni conflict.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, presented these views in an official statement. Speaking for the league’s global assemblies and councils, Al-Issa praised what was described as the decisive and wise content of the Saudi statement.

Al-Issa said the measures outlined by Saudi Arabia aim to protect peace, security, and the unity of the Yemeni people under their internationally recognized leadership. The statement stressed that preserving institutional legitimacy is seen as a central condition for any lasting settlement and for easing humanitarian pressures within Yemen.

The league noted that the immediate priority remains maintaining stability in Yemen and the broader region. It argued that unresolved political questions, including the Southern cause, should be addressed through dialogue and negotiation. These talks, it said, must occur within established legal and legitimate frameworks agreed by the parties.

Al-Issa warned that support for what the statement termed illegitimate practices would deepen internal divisions and benefit those who do not seek Yemen’s best interests. The league cautioned that any further steps outside the legitimate course risk igniting sedition, with the heaviest cost ultimately borne by the Yemeni people themselves.

Concluding the statement, Al-Issa urged all Yemeni parties to act with wisdom and place the national interest first. The Muslim World League called on them to rally around their legitimate leadership, protect Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and work towards a secure and prosperous future for the country.
