Saudi Grand Mufti Chairs Muslim World League's 46th Session Focusing On Islamic Unity And Global Peace

The Supreme Council of the Muslim World League (MWL) has officially opened its 46th session, under the leadership of the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh. This session, significant for its wide representation of the Muslim community both from majority and minority populations, aims to address critical issues facing the Islamic world today.

Among the urgent topics on the agenda are the unity of the Islamic Ummah, the ongoing conflict in Palestine and Gaza, disruptions in Red Sea navigation, the political situation in Sudan, rising Islamophobia, and attacks on religious symbols. These discussions underscore the council's commitment to addressing pressing global issues affecting Muslims.

In his address, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh highlighted Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in supporting the Muslim community worldwide. He emphasized the Kingdom's efforts in resolving disputes within the Muslim community, promoting unity, and extending support to Muslims facing crises. "The Kingdom has established several bodies, councils, and institutions concerned with Muslim affairs," he stated, illustrating Saudi Arabia's proactive approach to fostering Islamic solidarity.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL, lauded the council's initiatives, including significant updates to its bylaws to reflect its status as an international organization. Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais pointed out that the meeting reflects the Ummah's desire for peace and unity, stressing the importance of dialogue among different faiths and cultures.

The session also saw contributions from international figures such as Egypt's Minister of Awqaf Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa Mabrouk and President of Religious Affairs in Türkiye Ali Erbaş. Both praised the MWL's efforts towards achieving global peace and commended Saudi Arabia for its leadership role in serving Islam and Muslims worldwide.

The Supreme Council of the MWL stands as a testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to leading discussions on key issues affecting Muslims globally. With 65 distinguished Islamic figures making up its membership, the council is poised to make impactful decisions that will resonate across the Muslim world.
