Muslim Council Of Elders Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement In Gaza To Aid Humanitarian Efforts
The Muslim Council of Elders, led by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, has expressed approval for the initial phase of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. This agreement includes the release of all prisoners and hostages and permits the entry of humanitarian aid. This development follows over two years of severe hardship faced by Palestinians due to aggression.
The Council highlighted that this ceasefire is crucial for alleviating the suffering of innocent civilians and boosting humanitarian efforts. They urged international parties to ensure the agreement's full implementation, aiming for a just and lasting peace. Such efforts are essential to end Palestinian suffering and secure their rights, including establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Muslim Council of Elders acknowledged the contributions of Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, and the United States in reaching this agreement. They also appreciated the efforts from Arab, Islamic, and international entities involved. The Council reiterated its backing for initiatives promoting regional and global stability and peace.
Furthermore, they called on the international community and humanitarian organisations to enhance immediate support for those affected by the conflict. Providing necessary assistance for rebuilding what has been destroyed is vital for recovery.
The Council's statement emphasised that implementing all phases of the ceasefire agreement is essential for paving a genuine path toward peace. They stressed that ensuring Palestinian rights is a priority in achieving long-term stability in the region.
