Muslim Council Of Elders Introduces Five Key Programmes During Ramadan To Promote Peace And Dialogue

The Muslim Council of Elders is set to present five Ramadan-themed programmes on its social media platforms during the Holy Month. These include "Al-Imam Al-Tayeb," "One Ummah," "Human Values with the Elders," "Month of Harmonious Coexistence," and "Our Ethics." The initiative aims to promote dialogue, peace, tolerance, and coexistence through various media channels.

The programme "Al-Imam Al-Tayeb" features His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders. In this series, he explores the Most Beautiful Names of Allah, discussing their meanings and how they influence a believer's behaviour and interactions with others.

Ramadan Programmes by Muslim Council of Elders

"One Ummah" was launched by the Muslim Council of Elders following the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference in Bahrain, under King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's patronage. The event gathered over 400 scholars from various Islamic schools. It resulted in ‘The Call of the People of Qiblah’ charter, emphasising dialogue and coexistence among all components of the Ummah.

The programme "Human Values with the Elders" is now in its third year. It continues to highlight noble human values outlined in the Document on Human Fraternity. These values include cooperation, human solidarity, dignity, peace, coexistence, justice, and equality. The programme underscores their importance in enhancing human life and fostering harmony.

"Month of Harmonious Coexistence" focuses on human values relevant during Ramadan. Episodes cover topics like coexistence and tolerance, including managing differences and viewing them as divine mercy. The programme aims to utilise diversity for community benefit and nation-building.

For the first time, "Our Ethics" has been introduced by the Muslim Council of Elders. This programme recognises ethics' role in shaping effective Islamic communities. Inspired by Prophet Muhammad’s teachings on good character, it seeks to instil essential ethical values in youth and future generations.

These programmes are part of a broader strategy by the Muslim Council of Elders to use media for promoting peace and understanding across different platforms. By focusing on key themes like dialogue and ethics, they aim to build cohesive societies that value tolerance and coexistence.
