Muslim Council Of Elders Highlights Religious Leaders' Role In Promoting Sustainable Peace At Kazakhstan Panel

The Muslim Council of Elders participated in a panel discussion hosted by the International Centre for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue in Kazakhstan. This event gathered notable religious and intellectual figures to discuss how religious leaders can contribute to sustainable peace. Mohamed Al-Amin, Director General of the Council’s Regional Office in Central Asia, highlighted the crucial role these leaders play in fostering long-term peace.

Al-Amin emphasised that religious leaders should evolve from spiritual guides to builders of trust and sources of inspiration. He noted that despite differences, all religions share a common goal: promoting peace and preserving human dignity. He urged for interfaith dialogue to transform into meaningful partnerships that benefit communities and uphold shared human values.

Religious Leaders' Role in Sustainable Peace

Al-Amin praised Kazakhstan's efforts in promoting dialogue and harmony among different faiths. He pointed out that the moral authority held by religious leaders must be used to encourage reform, harmony, and collaboration among followers of various religions and cultures. This approach is essential for advancing sustainable peace globally.

The partnership between His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and the late Pope Francis was highlighted as exemplary. Their collaboration led to the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together. This document serves as an inspiring ethical framework for ongoing efforts to promote peace and coexistence worldwide.

The Muslim Council of Elders reaffirmed its dedication to spreading a culture of dialogue and tolerance. The Council stressed that true peace involves more than just the absence of conflict; it requires actively establishing justice, dignity, prosperity, and harmony. These elements are crucial for building a stable world where all can thrive.

In conclusion, the Council remains committed to its humanitarian mission. It aims to foster collective efforts towards creating a world rooted in justice, peace, and stability through dialogue and tolerance. The role of religious leaders is pivotal in achieving these goals by inspiring trust and cooperation across diverse communities.
