Muslim Council Of Elders Spotlights Youth In Promoting Human Fraternity

The Muslim Council of Elders is actively engaging the youth in its mission to foster peace and promote dialogue, tolerance, and human coexistence through its Ramadan programme titled "Humanitarian Stories with Youth". This initiative is part of the Council's broader strategy to leverage various platforms for enhancing peace and understanding among different cultures, races, and religions. The programme is being broadcasted on the Council's social media platforms, reaching a wide audience.

In the first episode of the series, ‘Aisha Al-Yassi shared her experiences as a participant in the Human Fraternity Fellows Programme, a collaborative effort between the Muslim Council of Elders and Georgetown University. Al-Yassi, who is currently pursuing her master's degree at King's College London, drew inspiration from her upbringing in the UAE—a melting pot of cultures, races, and religions. She highlighted how this environment motivated her to study religious minorities in the Arabian Peninsula and their diverse cultural and civilisational backgrounds. Al-Yassi also encouraged her peers across the Arab world and beyond to actively promote human fraternity and mutual respect to foster peace among different societal groups.

Youth Lead in Human Fraternity Efforts

The second phase of the Human Fraternity Fellows Programme recently took place in Abu Dhabi, involving students from 11 prestigious universities worldwide. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions and dialogues aimed at overcoming challenges related to promoting human fraternity values on university campuses. The programme featured a variety of events, including participation in the Human Fraternity Majlis, a roundtable meeting for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, and visits to notable locations such as New York University Abu Dhabi, the Louvre Museum, and the Abrahamic Family House.

Besides "Humanitarian Stories with Youth", the Muslim Council of Elders has introduced three additional programmes for Ramadan: "Imam Al-Tayeb", "Humanitarian Values with the Muslim Council of Elders", "Month of Harmonious Coexistence", and "Reflect on Fasting". These programmes cover a range of topics from explaining Allah’s Most Beautiful Names to discussing noble humanitarian values outlined in the Document on Human Fraternity. They also delve into the humanitarian values that can be embraced during Ramadan, shedding light on fasting's psychological and physical benefits. These discussions aim to nurture souls in adopting noble values and ethics.

Through these initiatives, the Muslim Council of Elders is making significant strides in promoting human fraternity and understanding among youth. By highlighting real-life stories and engaging in open dialogue, the Council hopes to inspire future generations to work towards a more peaceful and tolerant world.
