Muslim Council Of Elders Advocates For Sustainability At Global Justice Summit In Dubai
The Global Justice, Love, and Peace Summit took place at Expo City Dubai from 12th to 13th April. The event saw participation from the Muslim Council of Elders alongside twelve Nobel Peace Prize laureates, various heads of state, leaders, dignitaries, senior officials, international figures, and religious leaders.
Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, spoke at a session titled "Beloved Mother Earth, Our Home: Can Love for the Planet Inspire a More Sustainable Future?" He highlighted the significance of this summit in Dubai as an opportunity to unite efforts for planetary protection and sustainability. He stressed the need for collective action to safeguard Earth and ensure a just future for all.

Judge Abdelsalam emphasised the importance of promoting justice, love, and peace amidst global challenges like wars and conflicts. He called for enhanced cooperation to address these issues effectively. The summit provided a platform to discuss these values in the context of current global challenges.
The Muslim Council of Elders has been actively working since its inception in Abu Dhabi in 2014 to foster peace, dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence. Judge Abdelsalam underscored the crucial role religious leaders play in addressing global issues such as environmental peace and climate change.
Several initiatives were highlighted by Judge Abdelsalam during his speech. These include the Global Summit of Religious Leaders which led to the Call of Conscience: The Abu Dhabi Joint Declaration on Climate. Additionally, he mentioned organising the Faith Pavilion at COP28 in Dubai—the first such initiative at UN Climate Conferences—and its continuation at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The summit's discussions centred around how love for our planet can inspire sustainable practices. This aligns with UAE’s values of tolerance and coexistence. The gathering aimed to strengthen joint actions towards achieving a sustainable future while addressing pressing environmental concerns.
The event concluded with calls for unity among nations and leaders to tackle climate change effectively. It reinforced the idea that collaborative efforts are essential in overcoming global challenges and ensuring a better world for future generations.
