Muslim Council Of Elders Discusses Intra-Islamic Dialogue And Palestinian Issues Amidst Current Challenges
The Muslim Council of Elders (MCE) convened its eighteenth session in Manama, Bahrain. The meeting was chaired by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the MCE. Attendees included council members and scholars from various Islamic schools globally, focusing on intra-Islamic dialogue and the Palestinian cause.
Participants unanimously opposed displacement efforts threatening the Palestinian issue. They reaffirmed their commitment to the Arab and Islamic stance against such actions. The assembly expressed hope for unity among Arab leaders at the upcoming Arab Summit in Egypt, aiming to advance the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

The attendees commended the Palestinian people's resilience in defending their land and heritage amidst severe aggression. They emphasised that unity and shared values are crucial for effectively addressing challenges faced by the Ummah. This collective strength is vital for overcoming obstacles and promoting peace.
In addition, participants fully endorsed "The Call of the People of Qiblah" charter from the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference. This document outlines a vision for future Islamic dialogue, prioritising issues and fostering fraternity across communities. It aims to halt derogatory speech, hate rhetoric, and takfir (accusations of disbelief).
The scholars pledged to continue efforts in Islamic dialogue through practical initiatives. A league for Islamic dialogue will be formed, including representatives from all Islamic schools of thought. This league will follow up on conference recommendations with global partners, supporting next year's Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference at Al-Azhar in Egypt.
Artificial intelligence's impact on values and ethics was also discussed. Participants stressed an ethical charter's necessity to guide those managing AI tools and users optimally benefiting from them positively. They highlighted Islamic institutions' role in leveraging AI to communicate effectively with youth about correct religious information.
Support from UAE Leadership
The attendees extended gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. His continuous support aids global efforts by the Muslim Council of Elders in promoting peace, enhancing Islamic fraternity, and fostering coexistence worldwide.
The meeting concluded with a call for continued collaboration among scholars to address pressing issues facing the Muslim world today. By uniting efforts, they aim to create a more harmonious environment that respects diversity within Islam while promoting mutual understanding.
