Museums Commission And Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation Initiate Executive Program For Enhanced Museum Collaboration
The Museums Commission, under Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture, and Germany's Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) have launched a collaborative initiative in the museum sector. This partnership focuses on a long-term executive program to enhance cultural exchange. A key component is the creation of a loan index, detailing artworks and artefacts from SPK’s Berlin museums to be shared with the Museums Commission over five years.
The agreement between these two entities includes several areas of cooperation. It covers joint exhibitions in art and archaeology, long-term loans, strategic cultural projects, and capacity building through training and residencies. These efforts aim to foster deeper cross-cultural understanding and professional exchange between the two nations.

One significant initiative within this collaboration is "Museums in Motion." This program will unite up to 80 cultural and museum professionals from both countries over five years. Participants will engage in four interdisciplinary training sessions, promoting sustained dialogue and institutional partnerships.
In addition to "Museums in Motion," another initiative involves a professional secondment program with Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart. Over five years, experts from Hamburger Bahnhof will contribute to training and mentorship. This effort aims to support talent development in museum management and curation by sharing knowledge and best practices.
This executive program underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to enhancing international cultural dialogue. By advancing professional exchange within the global museum community, the Kingdom seeks to strengthen its role in fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Two dedicated training programs have been established as part of this collaboration. These initiatives are designed to build capacity through joint learning activities conducted in both countries. They aim to create long-term institutional partnerships by facilitating professional exchanges among participants.
The broader executive program signed by both parties outlines key areas for cooperation. These include strategic cultural projects that promote mutual understanding and collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Germany in the museum sector.
This partnership reflects a commitment to developing sustainable cultural relationships between the two countries. By focusing on joint exhibitions, long-term loans, and capacity-building initiatives, both parties aim to enrich their respective museum sectors while fostering international cooperation.
