Museums Commission Hosts Virtual Open Talk On Red Sea Museum's Cultural Heritage And Future Plans

The Museums Commission recently hosted a virtual open talk titled "The Red Sea Museum: A Window into the Cultural Heritage of the Red Sea Region." This event is part of a monthly series aimed at increasing awareness about national museum projects. The panel included experts like Eman Zidan, Director of the Red Sea Museum, and Dr. Majed Alanazi, Director of Underwater Heritage at the Heritage Commission.

The discussion focused on the Red Sea Museum's cultural identity and heritage, highlighting ongoing developments. This landmark aims to document the region’s history, especially Bab Al-Bunt in Historic Jeddah. The museum will narrate its building’s history and document both tangible and intangible heritage through key collections and temporary exhibits.

Virtual Talk on Red Sea Museum Heritage

The museum is set to open on December 6 as part of Saudi Vision 2030's Quality of Life Program initiatives. It represents Saudi Arabia’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage sustainably, enriching knowledge, and fostering development in Historic Jeddah. The museum will house a significant collection ranging from archaeological finds to artistic masterpieces.

Visitors can expect a cultural experience that aligns with international standards. The museum combines modern technology with research practices and collection preservation. It collaborates with local and global institutions to provide interactive pathways that enhance understanding of the Red Sea as a hub for intellectual, artistic, and social exchange.

The meeting highlighted collaborations between the Red Sea Museum and other cultural sectors. These include organizing the International Red Sea Conference in April 2026 with the Heritage Commission. Additionally, partnerships with the Music Commission and Tariq Abdulhakim Museum aim to produce a symphony reflecting cities along the Red Sea coast.

Eman Zidan emphasized that these collaborations reflect efforts by cultural institutions to promote art and culture in the region. The museum will host public programs featuring workshops, training sessions, open dialogues, and seminars. Activities include training artisans through "Made in the Red Sea" initiatives and sustainable art projects like "Red Sea Art."

Engaging Programs for Visitors

The museum will also offer musical performances celebrating regional heritage, such as the "Red Sea Symphony," which blends authenticity with societal customs. Through its programs, it seeks to raise awareness about environmental and cultural diversity in the Red Sea region while inspiring creativity.

Interactive educational content tailored for different age groups will be available to deepen visitors' understanding of this unique area. The museum aims to build communication bridges between local and global communities by providing an environment conducive to creativity.

Overall, this project embodies Saudi Arabia’s commitment to safeguarding its cultural heritage through sustainable approaches that enrich knowledge while enhancing development in Historic Jeddah.
