Mubaderoon 8 Programme Enhances Youth Volunteerism And Life Skills In Sharjah

The "Mubaderoon 8" youth volunteer programme, organised by the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), is designed for young people aged 13 to 17. Running from 4th to 14th August, it involves participation from various government bodies and institutions. The initiative aims to foster a culture of volunteering while developing human values and life skills through diverse field activities and training sessions.

The programme features four volunteer initiatives over two weeks. It kicked off on 4th August with "Quench Your Thirst," in partnership with the Social Education Department. Participants prepared and distributed meals to workers, promoting responsibility and teamwork. Concurrently, a course titled "The Art of Volunteering and Community Responsibility" was offered to enhance participants' understanding of community service.

Mubaderoon 8 Cultivates Youth Through Volunteering

On Tuesday, the "Patients' Happiness" initiative took place in collaboration with Sharjah hospitals. Volunteers prepared gifts for patients during visits, aiming to instil entrepreneurship and humanitarian values. A workshop on teamwork skills and event organisation complemented this activity, further enhancing participants' abilities.

Wednesday's focus was on the "Mahasin Al Birr" programme at an elderly care home. This involved interactive sessions with residents and social activities that encouraged compassion and community involvement. Such engagements are crucial for fostering empathy among young volunteers.

The first week concluded on Thursday at Sharjah International Airport with the "Let Your Travel Be Enjoyable" programme. Participants distributed leaflets about prohibited items in carry-on luggage, providing practical training in public speaking and confidence-building. These activities are set to repeat from 11th to 14th August, reinforcing skills through practice.

Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Community Cohesion Department at SSSD, highlighted the programme's role in shaping young people's understanding of community giving. She stated that these quality volunteer programmes align with new generation aspirations, offering opportunities to practice volunteer principles, boost self-confidence, and prepare them as future leaders.

The continuation of these programmes into the second week ensures that participants effectively acquire essential values and skills through repetition and practice. This structured approach helps embed a strong foundation for lifelong community engagement among the youth involved.
